Hours of work: Typical hours of work are from 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM local time Monday through Friday. Flexibility of Working Hours dependent on location. Additional hours may be necessary as needed. This position is exempt from overtime.

Compensation: $75,000 - $150,000 annually. Depending on experience.

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented BloodRelay Implementation Lead & Product Owner to serve as both a project manager and subject matter expert (SME) for our BloodRelay solution, a cutting-edge software platform supporting reference laboratory operations and hospital transfusion workflows. This hybrid role combines hands-on customer implementation leadership with strategic product ownership, ensuring operational excellence and future-ready product design.
 

Key Responsibilities
Implementation & Project Management
  • Act as the Reference Lab Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing customers with operational and technical guidance during implementation.
  • Lead implementation projects from initiation to go-live, coordinating with internal teams and external customer stakeholders.
  • Perform mission-critical product configurations specific to each implementation using BloodRelay’s flexible rule- and code-based (JScript) logic engine.
  • Translate complex customer requirements into clear, actionable workflows.
  • Provide clear, confident decision-making in time-sensitive scenarios using operational expertise in reference laboratories and transfusion workflows.
  • Ensure adherence to timelines, scope, and quality across all implementation phases.

BloodRelay Product Ownership
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of the BloodRelay platform, including detailed understanding of its capabilities and limitations.
  • Possess in-depth familiarity with BloodRelay’s APIs, enabling you to guide customer IT teams and integration developers on effective use.
  • Drive the strategic roadmap for BloodRelay with a strong emphasis on expanding transfusion capabilities, including:
    • Electronic crossmatch (EXM)
    • Labeling and compatibility verification
    • Workflow automation and compliance
  • Own the development of requirements documentation for new features (currently ~70% defined), working closely with engineering and clinical stakeholders.
  • Serve as the Voice of the Customer (VOC) internally, ensuring real-world clinical, operational, and compliance needs are deeply embedded in roadmap decisions.
 

 
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical laboratory operations, preferably in reference or transfusion medicine labs.
  • Proven experience in healthcare software implementation or project management roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare IT systems, workflow analysis, and rule-based configurations (JScript or similar).
  • Familiarity with HL7 and RESTful APIs preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects involving both technical and clinical stakeholders.
  • Passion for solving real-world healthcare problems with thoughtful, scalable software design.

Preferred Skills & Attributes
  • Clear, persuasive communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Experience with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and requirements gathering.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improving patient safety through innovation.
